A Clinical Study of Intra-abdominal Tuberculosis

Abstract
|
|
|
Clinical observations was performed on 55 cases of intra-abdominal tuberculosis with brief reviews of literature. These cases were admitted to department of general surgery of Taegu Presbyterian Medical Center from April 1958 to August 1968 and Chungnam National University Hospital from March 1968 to December 1974.
The following results were obtained:
1. The peak age incidence was the third and fourth decades {40%), and the ratio of male female was 1: 1. 2 the frequent chief complaints were abdominal pain weight loss, nausea and vomiting diarrhea, and fever etc.
3. The duration of disease was less than 7 year in most of cases.
4 The chest X-ray revealed that 23 cases (41 8%) had pulmonary tuberculosis
5. The most common complication was intestinal obstruction (16.4%).
6. Thirty´ cases (54.6%) were misdiagnosed preoperatively.
